Hallback to fight Braekhus in Denmark for Three Titles
April 17, 2011
Source: Press Release

(APR 17)  On May 7, 2011, in Copenhagen, Denmark,  Chevelle “Fists of Steel” Hallback, (28-6, 11 KO),  of Tampa, Florida,  will face undefeated multi-world champion Cecilia “First Lady” Braekhus (17-0, 4 KO), in a 10-round world title bout where Braekhus will defend her WBC, WBA, and WBO welterweight titles.  Their fight will be the featured co-main on the mainliner of Evander Holyfield vs. Brian Nielsen.

Just recently on April 3, 2011, in Herning, Denmark,
Braekhus successfully defended her titles against United States Jill Emery where she defeated Emery by a 10-round unanimous decision.

Hallback is the current IFBA lightweight champion, and is also the current WBAN's lightweight champion.  She has  won other world titles that includes belts with the IBA and the WIBA.  Hallback is rated #1 with our WBAN Independent world ratings as a lightweight, and Braekhus is ranked #2 as a welterweight.

Hallback said in a recent press release sent in to us by Amy Greene, "I am ecstatic about the opportunity to fight overseas. I fought in Japan in 2005, and always wanted the chance to fight overseas again. I'm pretty well known in the boxing community in the United States but wanted to be known internationally- so what better way than to go and fight on a televised show as Evander Holyfield's co-main event? I really thank God for this opportunity and look forward to bringing those belts back with me to the United States."

This fight with Braekhus is something Chevelle's advisor Bill Calogero worked diligently to make happen. “I'm excited we were able to get the deal done,” he said, “and we're looking forward to a great fight, which the winner of this fight will be at the top of the women's pound for pound rankings. And probably the best fight on the card. Chevelle plans on being at her best and bringing those belts home.”

WBAN spoke to Eddie Montalvo this week and he said, "It was a pleasure to have worked alongside Chevelle Hallback and Bill Calogero (Billy C) to seal a Multiple Title bout against undisputed Welterweight Champion Cecilia Braekhus on May 7th 2011, in Copenhagen, Denmark, on the Holyfield vs. Nielsen Undercard. A public thank you to both Chevy and Billy "C" for allowing me to be a 'key' part in Chevelle's competing for The WBA, WBC and WIBA Welterweight Crowns and, specifically to Mr. Hagan Doering and Ms. Michele Low of NISSE Sauerland for their professionalism and Passion in working with me. "
