Amanda Serrano stops Ela Nunez
by Mark A. Jones
April 23, 2011

(APR 23)  Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano, 128.2, Brooklyn, elevates her status with an impressive fourth round stoppage of Ela “Bam Bam” Nunez, Johnstown at the Fairgrounds Event Center in Hamburg, NY. With the win, Serrano improves her record to 9-0-1 with 5 kayos. Nunez record now stands at 9-9-1 with 2 kayos. This was the third meeting between the two with Serrano holding the edge with two wins and a draw.

Serrano started fast at the opening bell, with a two-fisted body attack, taking the fight to Nunez who was relegated to sitting in front of her foe when her escape route to her left was cut-off by Serrano’s ever improving lateral movement and overall ring generalship.

Nunez absorbed numerous combinations to the body and straight lefts to the head from Serrano and slowed down noticeably during the first round.

The second round witnessed Serrano maneuver Nunez into the ropes initiating each combination to the body and ending with hard punches to the head. Nunez, still unable to move to her left, was forced into several Serrano straight lefts as Nunez moved to her right into Serrano’s power.

Nunez faded badly in the third round as Serrano’s relentless body attack severely weakened her. As the third round ended, Nunez was trapped on the ropes and near defenseless.

Serrano, sensing the possibility of a stoppage victory, increased the tempo in the fourth round causing the assigned referee to stop the contest with 30 seconds left in the round when Nunez failed to answer a volley of cleanly landed punches and appeared defenseless against the ropes.

Serrano appeared jubilant after her impressive victory, but displayed proper respect for her battered foe.

Venue: Fairgrounds Event Center in Hamburg, NY
Promoter: Don Juan Promotions
Match maker: Diana Rodriguez
Attendance: 600 (estimate)
