(FEB 21) Last night Australian
boxer Susie Ramadan beat Terri Lynne Cruz 99-91 on all judges
scorecards today to win the first sanctioned IBF female
bantamweight world championship in Melbourne, Australia.
The more seasoned Cruz displayed some impressive ring craft and
footwork, but seemed unable to get her timing to land meaningful
punches on Ramadan, who is also known for her fleet-footed style.
After the fight Cruz said she had never felt worse and that
possibly the flying time and crossing the international dateline
had caught her off guard as much as Ramadan's speed and skill.
Ramadan's record moves to 20-0 while Cruz, from Thornton,
Colorado drops to 17-6.
