WATSONVILLE CA, September 16 -
Four-time world champion, Carina "La Reina" Moreno, along with
trainer Rick Noble, Jerry Glover and Robert Terrence, have come
together and formed the "Monterey Fight Club", a promotional
company bringing boxing and mixed martial arts shows to the
Monterey and Santa Cruz counties.
Top MMA amateur standouts from the state of California will
highlight the first show, titled "Coastal Collision" presented
by the Monterey Fight Club. This show will take place December
11, 2010 at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds.
The California
Amateur Martial Arts Organization (C.A.M.O.) a governing body
for amateur MMA in California by the California State Athletic
Commission will sanction the bouts. Proceeds from the show will
benefit a fundraiser for sports and academic scholarships for
students at Carina Moreno's alma mater, Watsonville High School.
"Together with my team we are going to do our best to promote
great shows," said Moreno. "Bringing fights to my hometown has
always been a dream of mine. In addition, student and athletes
at Watsonville High School will gain assistance to help further
their education with the scholarship fund we've put together. I
encourage everyone to come support our first show."
