(SEPT 9) With championship belts
on the line in just a few days, Mexican boxing heroes Erik
Morales and Edgar Sosa joined a contingent of fighters including
“Mexican Fiesta” boxers Ana Maria Torres, her opponent Alesia
Graf, Daniel Estrada and Reyes Sanchez to take a day out of the
gym and show kids the importance of physical activities.
The boxers put their gloves down and pedaled around the Pasa
Reforma in Mexico City, one of 122 cities in Mexico celebrating
International Bicycle Day. They were joined by Secretary of
Tourism of the Federal District Alejandro Rojas Diaz Duran, city
attorney Miguel Mancera, the principals of the Bicentennial Gala
and Federal staff members Bernardo de la Garza, head of Conade;
and from SEP (Salud Entre Todos- Health Among All of Us) Alonso
Lujambio and Jose Angel Cordova.
A throng of fans surrounded Morales and Sosa as they rode
through the city, showing the home country fighters an
outpouring of support before their respective championship bouts
this Saturday, Sept. 11.
Morales takes on Scotsman Willie “Hands of Steel” Limond for the
WBC Intercontinental Championship; in the co-feature bout, Sosa
goes for the WBC International Flyweight title against current
title holder, Filipino fighter Ryan Bito.
