(JUNE 14) WBAN is happy to report
that we have now been on the Internet for 12 Years! Little did I
know in 1998, that what was going to be no more than a historical
website about the past women boxers, would become a source of major
coverage for the sport----and paying tribute to the past women
boxers who played a significant part in the sport to pave the
road for the current boxers.
I first would like to thank ALL of the writers and photographers
(too many to mention all), the boxers, their teams, the promoters,
and the boxing community for the continued coverage and
contributions they have sent into WBAN all of these years.
I would like to personally give a special thanks to Dee Williams who
continues to be a major source in covering the sport, with the
independent WBAN World ratings, the top-of-the-line biographies of
the women boxers, and all the other countless contributions Dee
continues to provide.
I would like to also personally thank another longtime supporter of
the sport ---Denmark's Torben. L. Torben has been helping me even
before WBAN was ever in existence. I met Torben on a classified ad
section of some website, when I was in the process of doing research
on the history of the sport. Torben was living in Ireland at the
time, and he answered my classified ad. At that time, I had not even
named WBAN (Women Boxing Archive Network) and I did not have
the URL picked out at the time---I knew absolutely nothing about
building a website on the net.
Torben supplied me with enough history from his collection, along
with what I had accumulated about the sport to initially get WBAN on
the net.
Lastly, I would like to give honorable mentions to our three world
title holders, Chevelle Hallback, Holly Holm, and Myriam Lamare, who
made boxing history for WBAN, when they won the first WBAN
Independent belts in the sport.
