(JAN 10) Tonight (Time zone in
Germany) in Magdeburg, Germany, Ina Menzer, 125½,
retained her WBA, WIBF, and WBO Featherweight titles when the
referee stopped the fight in the 6th round on the advise from the
ring doctor. Ramona Kühne, 125, suffered a deep cut over
her left eye after a hard right from followed by a left from Menzer.

Menzer had the upper hand in the
first rounds, but Kühne became stronger in the following rounds,
so it was still an open fight when the deep cut ended Ramona
Kühne's dream of returning to Berlin with three belts.
Ramona Kühne's team had insisted on using Reyes gloves, which
has a much harder padding than the PAFFEN gloves normally used
at the Universum cards.
The harder gloves also had Menzer's cut man work for his money
already after the first round.
In a post fight interview, The
interviewer asked Menzer: "This really calls for a rematch. Will
you give her a second chance?" to which Menzer answered: "NO, I
won decisively within the distance. I don't see a reason for
granting her a rematch."
