(AUG 10) Houston's own Marlen Esparza
currently ranked number one in the nation, has just returned home
from Kansas City, Missouri, with her fourth ringside world
title. Marlen competed against Canada's 106 lb national champion
Jacquline Parks in the semi finals. She defeated Parks with
the score of 5-0.
Marlen then advanced to the
finals competing against former two-time national junior
champion Jessica Ponce from Napa, Calofirnia---also beating her
with the same score of 5-0 and giving her two standing eight
counts in the bout. Marlen will now start to focus
on the women's Pan Americans that will be held in Ecuador in
October.
