(JULY 19) In her third title defense since becoming IFBA Strawweight Champion in May, 2006, Ji Hyun Park will take on Jodie Esquibel of Albuquerque, New Mexico, on July 25, 2009.

The bout will take place in South Korea, promoted by Woon Chul Shin. Park most recently successfully defended her title against Hollie Dunaway this past February.

Esquibel, 5-3-1, trains under Mike Winkeljohn, who also trains IFBA Jr. Middleweight Champion Holly Holm. This will be Esquibel’s first opportunity for an IFBA title and her first opportunity to fight outside the United States.

She twice beat IFBA title contender Melissa Shaffer but suffered a loss most recently to Carina Moreno, current IFBA Jr. Flyweight Champion.
