(JUNE 28) Esther Schouten and Bettina
Völker will be fighting for the vacant WIBF Bantamweight title at
the SES boxing card at Langenhagen, Germany on Friday, July 3rd in
the co-main event. This will be a rematch for the two.
In their first bout, in January of 2001, Völker was thrown in
at the deep end in her professional debut. Schouten, then 4-1-0, won
by a first round TKO. Schouten, who is under contract with
Spotlight boxing, is also the favourite to win the second encounter
with the semi professional pioneer of women's boxing in Germany.
Volker manages a full time
secretarial job, in addition to her boxing career, which limits
her time in the gym to evenings, week-ends and vacations.
However, Völker displays a lot of heart in the ring, which she
proved against strong opponents like Simona Galassi and Hagar
Shmoulefeld. In her last fight, Volker won the WIBF European
super bantamweight title against Corina Carlescu.
Whether heart and fighting spirit is enough against a more
experienced, well-skilled Schouten, will be answered in
Langenhagen next Friday.
The main event will feature
Natascha Ragosina vs. Laura Ramsey of the United States.
