(JUNE 1) The back and forth regarding
the proposed fight between Sarah Pucek and Brooke Dierdorff appeared
done however is it. Over the weekend there was offers made to
Dierdorff and the fight had actually been made as of Friday
afternoon Pacific Time. It was then off again and according to Team
Pucek the events went like this.
We were working to facilitate the fight over the past few days.
Dierdorff got her offer from Vancouver Promoter Gerry Gionco who has
just received a sanction to do a show at the Plaza of Nations in
Downtown Vancouver. A good friend of Gerry’s, former world champion
Vaia Zaganas is an avid reader of WBAN, brought the Pucek-Dierdorff
saga to the attention of Gionco who was looking for an attractive
fight for his July 18 show. Friday afternoon Dierdorff got her
offer.
He made the offer to Dierdorff through her manager and it was
accepted she was going to receive the $2000 American. This is the
amount she asked for and Pucek had agreed to fight for 500 just to
get the fight done. A couple of hours later Dierdorff called Pucek’s
manager Dave Allison and told him she will not fight in Canada and
asked Allison to revisit the situation at the Emerald Queen. Allison
informed promoter Gerry Gionco. About Dierdorff's call and suggested
to the promoter it could because of the new passport rule and the
new complications crossing the border. The promoter told Allison he
asked Dierdorff's manager about passports and there was no problem.
According to camp Pucek, promoter Gerry Gionco has called
Dierdorff’s manager several times over the weekend and left messages
and received no reply. The story appears in WBAN Sunday May 31 about
looking for the right amount of money once again. If Dierdorff does
not want the fight that is her option don’t take the fight. But
spare us all the empty talk about fighting anyone anytime kind of
stuff says Allison.
I can say of behalf of Ms. Pucek we don’t make claims we will fight
anyone anytime because we won’t, Sarah is a work in progress and we
know this and don’t make such claims. We are not currently
challenging world champions for this reason. We do want to get
fights that will seed our ability to make some challenges in the not
to distant future.
Brooke Dierdorff is not a world champion she is the WBC
International Champion there is a difference and although it is an
achievement to win that title if it was a world title it would be a
world title. If we were challenging for a world title we would be
challenging Olivia Gerula who is a world champion and defeated a
world champion to win the WBC strap.
We asked for a non-title fight against an individual that claims she
will fight anyone at any time etc. It would seem that claim might be
true, unless her name is Sarah Pucek. It would appear the handle of
“No Mercy” is not about the punishment Dierdorff is capable of
delivering to an opponent in the ring. It is the lack of Mercy in
enduring her constant barrage of empty tough talk says Allison.
Here it is Brooke, a quote from Sarah Pucek.
“I will fight you at the Plaza of Nations on July 18 I will fight
you in a non title fight. I have given up the lion’s share of my
purse to make the fight. You have been offered $2000 American for
the fight and you can keep your title so you can still pretend
you’re a world champion after I kick your ass. Take the fight or
shut up about it.”
[Note: WBAN also received a
confirmation letter from the promoter who offered Dierdorff
2,000 to fight Pucek].
