(MAR 25) Retired World Champion Terri
Moss serves as the women's trainer, treasurer, and office manager of
Decatur Boxing Club located just outside of Atlanta. The gym,
founded and owned by her trainer Xavier Biggs, opened in 2005 and
boasts of having the only all-female boxing program in the region.
"Men aren't even allowed in the gym while I'm training my girls; not
during the boxing fitness classes, and not when my fighters are
training.
We don't spar men, we don't train
beside them. I have nothing against dealing with men in the gym;
rather, I have found that it is a much more professional
atmosphere for us when you take the masculine presence out of
it.
The women I train are very used to getting respect in the gym,
which is what I want to develop in them more than anything; to
feel like they can have respect as athletes in boxing. Its very
classy, and I'm excited to be developing some very talented
fighters.
The girls really enjoy the "boxing chicks" atmosphere, and they
have a lot of fun." Terri has several competing amateurs, one
undefeated pro, and has trained hundreds of women in her boxing
fitness program. She has been a full-time women's boxing trainer
since 2004.
