(MAR 6) On March 7, 2009, it
marks the return of Lisa “Bad News” Brown to her native Trinidad and
Tobago, where she will mount a challenge against Maribel Santana for
the vacant WIBA super bantamweight boxing championship at the Jean
Pierre Sports Complex in Port-of-Spain.
This will be Lisa’s first appearance in Port-of-Spain since
defeating Jackie Chavez for the WIBA title on September 23 2005. The
current IFBA Jr. Featherweight titlist and 3 time world champion
embarks on a new horizon as she returns home for a series of fights
in her native homeland. Lisa is proud, honoured and delighted to be
returning home as a conquering champion and is poised to take the
big stage in showcasing her talents as she represents Trinidad and
Tobago at this junction in here career.
She began her successful career in Canada, but was never fully
embraced by sports media as a world champion.
Returning home as boxing’s queen of the lighter weight divisions, is
simply icing on the cake made sweeter by the open arms of a
country’s support.

Canadian Base World Champion to Trinidad
IFBA Jr. Featherweight World Champion Brampton’s Lisa (Bad News)
Brown will be going after her 4th World Championship Belt the WIBA
Super Bantamweight Title against Maribel Santana of the Dominican
Republic March 7th /09 at the Jean Pierre Sport Complex, Port of
Spain, and Trinidad & Tobago.
Two others Ontario base boxers appear on the same all female card
they are Toronto Lightweight Bernadette Hume and Monique Duval newly
acquired Hamilton base welterweight (under Dave Finch) all
performing on a special tribute boxing event Women Power in honor of
the late Trinidadian boxer Jizelle Salandy, put on in conj union
with the International Women’s Day celebrations.
Women Power will features 5 bouts in total put on by the Unified
Promoter’s Boxing Association of Trinidad And Tobago under chief
promoter Boxu Potts, who would like to spearhead a proposal too
unite the super bantamweight division & Jr. Featherweight Division
under 1 Champion Lisa Brown. Who many believe not only to be the
weight class best but also the best pound for pound female on the
planet presently.
