IOWA CITY, IOWA - Super bantamweight
Katy Klinefelter will return to the ring this Thursday night,
October 30th at the annual Jonathan Ogden Foundation Charity Boxing
Event at the Martin’s Valley Mansion in Hunt Valley, MD.
The 21 year old Klinefelter, a former amateur standout and currently
a senior at the University of Iowa , will face pro debuting Alabama
native Jessica Rojo in a scheduled four rounder.
Klinefelter, 1-0 (1KO), made her pro debut on August 22nd at the
Johnson County Fairground in Iowa City with a first round knockout
of Diamond Martinez.
The hard working Klinefelter combines her full time student
requirements with her active training schedule. She will graduate in
May 2009 with a degree in Exercise Science.
About her upcoming bout she stated, “I train all year round so I’m
ready when the phone rings. This is similar to the amateurs in that
I don’t know much about Rojo so I just need to concentrate on what I
need to do to win. I’m in great shape and very well prepared for
battle on Thursday night.”
In regards to her growing fan base in Iowa City , Klinefelter said,
“The fans here have always been very supportive and that means a
great deal to me. I’m hoping to fight back in Iowa City in the near
future.”
Said promoter Chet Koerner of TKO Boxing Promotions. “Everyone was
very impressed with Katy’s pro debut. We’re glad to bring her out to
the East Coast for the boxing fans in the Baltimore area to see her.
Katy’s has a great deal of amateur experience and our plan is to
keep her active in the coming year. This bout on Thursday night is
the first step towards that.”
