(OCT 1) Kenyan Featherweight boxer
Benedetta Kaloki, 2-2, will take the hard road to victory when she
travels 2,000 kilometres away from home to face, Zambian debut,
Yvonne Chikapa. The six-round bout will take place in Lusaka, Zambia
on the October 4th.
Kaloki who left for Zambia on Monday, will seek to wipe out a
controversial loss in her last outing against Kenyan Linda Oranja.
In that fight, what seemed like an accidental head butt caused a
deep cut in Kaloki's brow and was judged by the referee to be a
punch. The officials declared the fight a Technical KO despite
protests from Kaloki's corner, who insisted that Kaloki was leading
on the cards at the time of the cut, and that the fight should have
been declared a Technical Draw.
"'It is hard to get victories away from home but that is the least
of my worries right now", Kaloki said before leaving for
Lusaka. Kaloki added, "I believe in my abilities, and I
know its up to me to ensure that I have a shutout victory over
Chikapa, KO or no KO."
"I was disappointed in the result in the Oranja fight, but I have
the strength to pick myself up and move on. That is why I am taking
the Zambia fight despite the many disadvantages," said Kaloki.
Kaloki will face the Zambian Chikapa on the undercard of the GBU
Featherweight title fight between Zambian Esther Phiri and American
Angel Mcnamara. The fight is promoted by Anthony Mwamba of Exodus
Stables.
