Dunaway Has “Unfinished Business”
June 21, 2008

(JUNE 21) Hollie “Hot Stuff” Dunaway was looking forward to having a rematch against Wendy Rodriguez on June 13, 2008, at the Isleta Casino & Resort, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The two were fighting for two world title belts that included the IFBA and IBA strawweight titles. Little did Dunaway know that her fight would end in a 10-round split decision---leaving her and her manager Ron Brand stunned by the controversial decision.

Dunaway said, “I wanted to cry, I trained too hard for this.” “I didn’t lose—even the judges don’t agree,” added Dunaway.

Some of the heavy hitters for covering the sport and involved in the sport, concurred with their own thoughts about the fight. Butch Gottlieb of BoxingInLasVegas.com called it a “Bad Score.”  Chris Cozzone of New Mexico Boxing said, “Two of three judges saw a different fight, however, scoring it for Rodriguez, 98-92 and 96-94, while the third gave it to Dunaway, 96-94. FN/NMB had it 97-93 for Dunaway.”  Highly respected boxing promoter Jerry Hoffman said on his blog, “Dunaway is robbed by Rodriguez.”---Not to mention all the comments on forums about the fight.

With Dunaway winning the first fight against Rodriguez, and Rodriguez getting the decision in the second fight---Dunaway has some unfinished business. Dunaway would like to “Finish” that "unfinished business" by having a Trilogy match with Rodriguez to “Finally” settle the score!
