(JUNE 5) France’s European (EBU)
champion Myriam Chomaz will be in for a shock on Saturday night
(June 6), her Ugandan opponent for the WBC International Female
super featherweight title has warned.
The Ugandan, Agnes Adong, is considered an outsider going into the
battle for the vacant world title in Marceilles, Seine-Maritime,
France. In addition, Chomaz will enjoy the support of a home crowd
but Adong says she’s not bothered.
“She is in for a shock, come Saturday night! It’s a now-or-never
chance for me and I am ready for the job,” Adong (4-3-1,1ko) said in
an interview before flying out to France last (Tuesday) night.
“She’s in good shape and I’m expecting the best out of her,” her
trainer, Edwin Ssemanda, added.
The Ugandan female fighter, ranked 22 by the WBC in the
featherweight category, is coming off a 10-month break in which she
delivered her baby. Chomaz (8-1,6kos) has been more active and her
last fight was three months ago when she knocked out Daneila David
to capture EBU title. The French woman is currently rated number 7.
The 25-year-old Adong is a Ugandan champion (UPBC) featherweight
title holder and is stepping up to the super featherweight to fight
Chomaz. Her training camp was recently boosted by former
Commonwealth champion and two-time world title challenger Justin
‘the Ugandan Destroyer’ Juuko who offered tips and was one of her
sparring partners.
