(MAY 8) I'm a promoter in New York. I
see that Jill Emery is fighting Cristy Nickel at 147 lbs. Emery’s manager just stated that they
are looking to fight for titles in the 140-147 lb. weight class.
I offered Emery the chance to fight Liz Mooney for the New York
State Welterweight title. She turned it down. She told me she wants
that fight at 140. She fought in Germany at 154, and is now fighting
Nickel at 148.
Mooney has the W.B.E. welterweight title. We'll put it on the line
in September, but I really don't think Emery wants any part of
Mooney. So Jill, please don't state that you are looking to fight
for titles between 140 and 147 and then turn them down when offered
to you.
