(MAY 6) Two remarkable women's boxing
fights took place last Saturday in Stuttgart, Germany. Alesia Graf
(20-1-0, KOs 8) defended her WIBF and GBU world championship title
in junior bantamweight against the Brazilian fighter Rosilette Dos
Santos (10-2-0, KOs 7).
Graf was the technically better boxer and
dominated the hard fought bout. Her jab was decisive for the outcome
of the match. A powerful left followed by a quick right hand and a
single left punch earned her the win when the referee decided,
perhaps a bit too early, that the bravely fighting Dos Santos was
out of the fight at 1:32 of the fifth round.
The second match of the evening
showed light featherweight Asiye Ozlem Sahin (5-0-0, KOs 3)
underlining her status as hottest German prospect. “Sugar“ Sahin was
up against Natalya Bermas (0-1-0) who actually fights in the
bantamweight class.
Right from the beginning Sahin put her
considerably taller opponent under pressure and pursued her
relentlessly. She landed combinations to the head and body at will.
The verdict of the judges was clear as the fight (40-36, 40-36,
39-37).
