Conjestina Achieng to get worthy African opponent
By Edward Sande

(MAR 25) For lack of opponents, within the East and Central African region former GBU Women’s Middleweight champion, Conjestina Achieng has had to face off with the same boxers she has defeated in previous fights. This is set to change as Timebomb Promotions has initiated talks with the camp of Ghanaian Giftey 'Tiger' Ardei.

If negotiations are successful, Giftey will step into the ring with Achieng in an eight round title fight on the Acid Test fight card on 12th April 2008.

Achieng had earlier stated that she would be reluctant to meet her previous opponents again and called on sponsors to support local promoters to afford the cost implications of bringing in worthy opponents from Europe and the USA---very few African Nations have
professional women boxers.

Giftey Ardei will probably provide Achieng with her biggest African challenge, compared to her counterparts of the continent. Achieng has fought Tanzanian Monica Mwakasanga four times losing once and has seen off Ugandan Fiona Tugume twice. The other opponents, apart from Monalisa Sibanda of Zimbabwe have had either too little experience or not provided much of a challenge for her.

[Note from Sue Fox: WBAN has no record of Ardei, and we could not find a listed record on Boxrec under this name]
