(NOV 30) Tonight in at the Jean Pierre
Complex, in Trinidad and Tabago, Gisselle Salandy, of Trinidad, will
be fighting Dakota Stone, of the United States. The two were set to
fight on September 30th, when Salandy entered the ring as Stone waited to
fight her, and cancelled out at that time. At the weigh-in the two
weighed in on a bathroom scale (not calibrated), with Stone weighing
in at 151, and Salandy, 150 lbs.
According to the Trinidad Express News, the members of the Trinidad
and Tobago Boxing Board, and the media had to wait for nearly three
hours for the weigh-in to take place, and it took one minute to
weigh the boxers.
Melchoir Taylor, chairman of the Trinidad and Tobago Boxing Board,
was demanding an apology from promoter Buxo Potts in regards to this
incident.
To add insult to injury, Potts did not even have the hotel booked to
hold the weigh-in, and the Trinidad Express wrote, "After his late
arrival, Potts was pleading with hotel management to be allowed to
hold the weigh-in there, while Taylor and others complained of the
disrespect shown to the Boxing Board, all hoping that tonight's
fight comes off without a hitch."
