(JUN 30) Tonight in Stuttgart, Germany
on a Universum card, Julia Sahin, 17-0-0, 106.9, of Germany,
retained her WIBF Junior Flyweight title in a very close fight
against Hollie Dunaway, 19-4-0, 107.8 lbs.It took some time for
Sahin to get used to the style of Dunaway who had the upper hand in
the early rounds.
Sahin got stronger as the fight
progressed, but it remained a very close fight to the last bell. The
three judges didn't agree, with Sahin winning by a split decision
with scores of, 94-96, 96-94 and 97-94.
After the fight Dunaway said, "I thought I had won the fight,
because I got through with some good punches. I am not saying, that
the decision was wrong, because Julia is a great Champion. I should
have been more agressive, because I was the challenger and had to
show more. I would be very pleased, if a rematch could be arranged."
Dunaway's manager, Harold Petty said, "Hollie gave her best and we
are hoping for a rematch. It wasn't quite enough and Hollie should
have been more convincing."
The two other women's bouts on the card both ended early.
Alesia Graf, 17-1-0, won by TKO 1:03 seconds of the third round,
over Natashia Guthier, 5-1-2, in fight for the GBU Jr. Bantamweight
title, and newcomer to the Spotlight Stable, Magdalena Dahlen,
3-0-0, scored a TKO, 1:42 seconds, in the third round over
Albena Atseva, 0-7-0, in Jr. Bantamweight fight scheduled for
