Jane Couch awarded M.B.E.

Source: Press Release
June 16, 2006

(JUN 16) Britain's best know women's boxer Jane Couch has been made an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List which was published today.  She received the news on the eve of her departure for the USA where she will bid to bring home the 6th World title of her professional career which now spans 14 years.

"I am gob-smacked," Jane told Sportuk.tv. "For years you wonder if anyone cares about you. I've flown all around the world and appeared on some of the biggest shows but to be honoured by the Queen like this is unbelievable. I'm so proud"

Next Wednesday Jane will face up to Jaime Clampitt for the IWBF super lightweight title at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut where she beat the same opponent exactly two years ago. Thanks to Continental Airlines she has been able to re-scheduled her flight to the States to allow her time to celebrate her MBE.
