Ivanova retains European Title
By Torben L.
May 30, 2007

(MAY 30) Last night Bulgarian Galina Koleva Ivanova (7-5-2) defended her European Featherweight Title against undefeated Myriam Chomaz (7-0-0) in Port Audemer, France.

Chomaz has a reputation as a knockout boxer, winning 5 of her 7 fights within the distance, but it was the experience and better boxing skills of Ivanova that came out on top in this fight.

Chomaz chased Galina for most of the fight, throwing plenty of punches, but very few got through the defence of the Bulgarian. Galina had better luck with her counter punches and had the better game plan, while Chomez seemed to rely only on landing that one big punch that has won her 5 of her 7 previous fight, but failed to materialise in this one. Chomaz suffered a bad cut on the forehead in the 9th round, but the ring doctor allowed her to finish the fight. Galina Koleva Ivanova retained her belt with the scores 97-93, 96-94 and 95-95.
