Having made
the undefeated WBC super bantamweight champion, Alejandra
Oliveras,
really sweat for a split
decision at Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club on the 22nd December
2006, and defeated tonight's opponent, María del Carmen
Potenza, on points on a previous occasion, Claudia Andrea López
(“La Chica Diez”) will enter the ring in the Socios
Fundadores, Comodoro Rivadavia (Argentina), confident that
she can do the double on the woman from Rosario and take home
the UBC super bantamweight title (which is not, incidentally,
recognized by the Argentinian Boxing Federation) into the
bargain. Having said that, the ego of Potenza, a 3rd
Dan in tae kwon do, has been boosted since the pair last met (on
the 31st March 2006) by draws with both Danielle
Bouchard (in Canada) and Betina Garina – the only other woman
to have beaten López – so she's unlikely to lie down without a
fight.
On the same bill, Soledad ("Sole")
Matthysse will be making her debut against the local fighter
Graciela “La Bombardera” Becerra (0-1-1).
