"The public had
little chance last night to appreciate the boxing skills of the
Venezuelan star Ogleidis "La Niña" Suárez," writes Egbert Lewis
of Panamá América. "It took her just 1 minute and 9
seconds to relieve Olga Julio of Colombia of all desire to
continue."
The caption to
the first photo states that "Ogleidis went straight for the kill
from the opening bell, leaving the referee with no option but to
stop the fight". Prior to this, according to the same source,
Ogleidis dropped the Colombian with a solid blow to the head;
the second photo shows referee Javier Donovan sending Suárez to
a neutral corner before commencing the count. Crítica en
Linea reports that "Suárez triumphed by KO", so perhaps
what followed is that the Colombian refused to get up.
However
contradictory the reports – one of which speaks of
'chloroform', whilst others disagree even as to the winner
of the second fight (that between Martínez and Araúz) –
there's little ambiguity in Julio's body language, whichever
photo you look at.
