An opponent has been found for the
Panamanian fighter Juseth Araúz on the "Choque Decisivo" bill in the
Centro de Convenciones ATLAPA, Panama City, on the 25th April. For
weeks now, Araúz has been slaving away in the sweltering heat in the
gymnasium in Curundú with her trainer Rigoberto Garibaldi without
knowing whether she would even get a fight. There had been talk of a
Colombian opponent, but the challenge in the event comes from closer
to home: yesterday, she signed a contract to fight Shantal Martínez
(who, like Araúz herself, comes from the province of Chiriquí) at
188 lbs. After two defeats at the hands of the more experienced
Carolina Alvárez of Venezuela, Shantal, who is still in her teens,
will be looking for her first win.
On the same bill, as was reported yesterday, 19-year-old Ogleydis
"La Niña" Suárez of Venezuela (photo), who is 3-0 (3 KOs), will be
fighting Olga Julio of Colombia.
