(FEB 16) European TV viewers, who are
able to receive the German TV Channel ProSieben, are in for a treat
tonight, when Susi Kentikian (14-0-0 / 11 KO's) will face Carolina
Alvarez (8-0-1 / 4 KO's) of Venezuela for the
vacant WBA Flyweight Title. The bout is the main event on the
new "ProSieben Fight Night".
The show will focus on tomorrow's
champions and will be presented in a format aimed at attracting a
young audience. The two fighters are ranked as No. 7 (Alvarez) and 8
on WBAN's computer rankings and give promise to an exciting fight.
Kentikian is known for her outstanding technique and aggressive
fighting style and usually guarantee good and entertaining fights.
Her opponent has a huge fan in the
President of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez. According to a press release
from ProSieben, the General Consulate of Venezuela has inquired if
it is possible to transmit the fight to Venezuela, as the President
would like to congratulate "his boxer" in the ring per telephone, in
case she wins the world championship.
Talk show host Stefan Raab presented the show with Regina Halmich as
co-presenter. Stefan Raab did not have a very high opinion on
women's boxing back in 2001 and made the bad mistake of challenging
Regina Halmich to a boxing match. He was rewarded with a broken nose
and was stopped in the last round. The ProSieben channel recorded
it's highest ever viewer rating at that occasion, and Regina Halmich
- who was mainly known in boxing circles until then - became a
household name in Germany.
"ProSieben Fight Night" will be aired tonight at 8:15 pm Central
European Time, and there is an extra bonus--- Thursday evening,
Regina Halmich and Susi Kentikian appeared on Stefan Raab's talk
show "TV Total"
