(DEC 15) Sugar and Spice aside, on
December 14th, Maureen “Moe” Shea once again stepped into the Grand
Ballroom to test her self-defense reflexes against Rocio Vazquez.
Not serving dainty-dish Angel food this Thursday night, Maureen
fired up the barbecue.
Spectators got a mouthful of straight-up boxing during the first two
rounds of this scheduled six-round jr. lightweight bout. Though
Vazquez did some cooking of her own, weaving and scoring some blows,
Maureen clearly pressed her throughout this pounding match.
But early in round three, the head chef
turned up the kitchen heat, Chili pepper hot, hand speed, the
flicker of flames off charcoal, Shea repeatedly landed solid,
powerful, all meat and potato hard lefts and rights to Rocia’s head
causing the referee to stop the fight.
For fight fans, tonight’s TKO menu included some fine New York
boxing, dessert served, Bronx Apple pie ala “Moe.”
