(NOV 30) Both Holly Holm and Tricia Turton were well below the
154lb Jr. Middleweight limit for their IFBA Title fight Friday
night at Isleta Casino. Holm weighed in at 151, while Turton
almost made the welterweight limit of 147, coming in at 147 1/2.
The two will battle 10 rounds, if Holm is successful she will be
a three time champion in three different weight classes.
Hector Munoz will have an opponent in late sub Jeremiah Torres,
the two will fight for the WBC US National title, but only Munoz
can win the strap, having weighed 140; while Torres came in at
144 1/2. Some might scoff at Torres as Munoz's opponent but it
will give a measuring stick on how Munoz is at this stage in his
career, Torres has battled the top welterweights in the state,
having given Lee Montoya a scare in 2004 before being halted in
the second round of their rematch this year; Torres gave Joe
Gomez six good rounds before dropping a unanimous decision and
in 2005 he was halted by Vicente Garcia. Doors open at 4:30 with
the first bell at 6:00. Approximately 300 tickets remain.
