(NOV 25) Tonight in Sao Paulo, Brazil,
Duda Yankovich, 138, of Brazil, won a 10-round unanimous
decision over Darys Pardo, 139, Colombia, and became the WIBA
light welterweight world champion. According to Ryan Wissow, the
fight was a brawl from start to finish, with Yankovich edging Pardo
early on with her speed and skills, and pouring it on late with her
strength and punching power. Judges scores were 100-89, 100-90,
100-88.
On the undercard, Simon Aparecida, (AKA Simone Duerte Da
Silva), 121, won a six-round unanimous decision over Silvia
Gervasi, 125. Judges scores were 60-55, 60-54, 60-54. Also,
Renata Ferreira, 115, won a four-round unanimous decision over
Naina Santana. All judges’ scores were 40-36.
