(NOV 22) Susianna Kentikian faced Maya
Frenzel in her first defence of the WIBF Inter-Continental Flyweight
title in Hamburg last night. It was Frenzel's third attempt at a
title after failing against Victoria Milo for the WIBF & GBU
Flyweight title and Julia Sahin for the German Flyweight title.
Frenzel in corner
But there was no "third time lucky" for
Frenzel, who was stopped by Kentikian 1 min and 35 seconds into
round 4.
Kentikian was in control right from the start, and after the first
round the writing was on the wall. Despite giving being 6" smaller
than Frenzel, Kentikian had no problems bobbing and weaving under
Frenzel jabs, and getting through with her fast and powerful
combinations. She masters every punch in the book, and deliver them
from all angels.
Frenzel inability to find an effective
defence against Kentikians repertoire of punches, combined with her
own lack of success in delivering any telling punches herself, soon
made her look completely overpowered. The end came about 90 seconds
into the 4th round, when Kentikian got through with a powerful right
hand and followed up with 2-3 hard uppercuts. The referee stepped in
to save Frenzel for further punishment.
The WIBF Inter-Continental Flyweight
title stays firmly in the hands of Kentikian, and the big question
is, when will she be fighting for even greater titles. It ought to
be soon.
