West beat Nijhof in Co-Main on card
November 20, 2006

(NOV 20) Jesus "Chuy" Rodriguez won a unanimous decision over a determined Hector Saez to capture the United States Boxing Council Jr. Welterweight crown. Rodriguez, (12-2 Salinas) used his jab effectively to stymie Saez, (8-6 Denver) who could not mount an effective attack despite being the aggressor in the bout. The victory at THE RIOT in Downtown Monterey for the local fighter, co-managed by Jack Mosley came without sustaining any cuts which has plagued him throughout his career.

The female feature found 18 year old Kaliesha West (5-0 Moreno Valley, Ca.) scoring a 59-55 unanimous decision over the game and highly decorated former amateur champion Stella Nijhof (1-1-1 New York City).

Other results on the 6 bout card promoted and matched by Jerry Hoffman of 12 Sports Productions had  Super heavyweight Keith Spencer, a Navy serviceman from Ventura winning his pro debut over William Jackson, Tony Mizel scoring a first round KO over Mike Hull in a Jr. Middleweight battle, getting off the canvas himself to land a devastating punch to the liver which ended matters. Dario Castillo got his first pro victory over winless Brandon Mahoney in a Jr. Welter matchup, and Salinas' Constancio Alvarado improved to 2-0-1 with a decision over Steven Rodriguez, despite a deep gash on his forehead that bled for the entire fight.

Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero and Carina Moreno were both in attendance having been regular performers in Monterey earlier in their careers.
