Galassi Wins by decision over Taskova
By Torben L. of Denmark
(NOV 15) Last night at the Palasport Villa Romiti, in Forli, Italy,
on a Eurosport televised card, Simone Galassi's had to work much
harder than expected in her second pro fight. The Italian, who has
won everything there is to win in the amateur ranks faced Svetla
Taskova, who has a lot of experience, but very few wins, in the pro
game (4-17-1).
Taskova has a very awkward boxing style
and despite a clear deficit in both boxing skills and reach, she
managed to take the three times Amateur World Champion through the
full eight rounds. Galassi's victory was never in doubt, winning all
eight rounds convincingly----but she made things more difficult than
necessary by letting herself be dragged into inside, instead of
using her reach advantage.
The fight was no doubt a good learning
experience for Galassi, who is still in the process of finding her
feet in the pro game.
