(AUG 11) Welterweight action will be fierce when "A Ring of
Their Own" brings together Camden, New Jersey’s Daria Hill (3-3)
and New York City’s Jill Emery (6-0) at Harveys, Lake Tahoe on
August 31.
Hill is coming off a disappointing loss in January to Suswella
Roberts and makes no bones about getting a "W" in Lake Tahoe.
Nor does she fear an undefeated opponent. "No," Hill said
without a trace of doubt. "She hasn’t fought anybody, and hasn’t
been up against anybody as tough as I have been, the record I’ve
been seeing. I’m looking for a BIG W and I deserve it. I could
have done better against Suswella had I known it was the
pressure of having to win by KO, fighting in her backyard. But
August 31, my hands will do the talking for me."
Jill Emery, who is undefeated as a professional won three
national titles in three weight classes as an amateur, sees this
fight with the tough Daria Hill as a welcome opportunity. "I’m
glad to be fighting her, it’s gonna be a good fight and I’m
looking forward to it. I’m just trying to fight better people,
up my level of competition to where I can fight for a belt,"
Emery stated, and preferred not to predict the outcome in the
ring, but encourages boxing fans to see what she expects to be a
great fight.
