(AUG 4) There is an article published on
Slam Sports by Murray Greig of the Edmonton Sun, where he wrote an
article entitled, "Waiting for an answer from Ali."
In this article Murray wrote, "There's a $100,000 offer on the table
for unbeaten Laila Ali (22-0, 18 KOs) to fight Jelena Mrdjenovich
(17-1, 10 KOs) in Edmonton on Nov. 4."
Murray went on to say that after Ali's
fight was canceled in Africa when she was to fight Gwendolyn O'Neil,
"That's when Glen Carriere of Edmonton's K.O. Promotions stepped in.
"
Carriere was quoted in the article saying that they have been
chasing Laila for awhile now, but that this looks like their
best window of opportunity to finally get Ali in the ring with
Jelena. Carriere said that he should know within 48 hours if
the fight is a go.

WBAN spoke to Team Ali about this article, and they stated the
following:
Damon Bingham of Team Ali said, "This is news to me. I read this
earlier and have not heard anything from Jelena's people. Also, lets
forget the fact that she is 135 pounds. She would have to come up to
Laila's weight, but as I said this is news to me as they have not
contacted me. People always throw Laila's name out there to garner
more publicity for themselves. I am more than reachable via my
office or cell phone and have not heard anything from them."
