(JULY 28) Monalisa Sibanda jetted in at
Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport from Zimbabwe
breathing fire over her 30th July fight with Fatuma Zarika. It is
her second trip to Kenya. She was first in Kenya in February
when she astounded boxing fans by stretching WBF Middleweight Champ
Conjestina Achieng the whole distance before losing
on points. "Last time when I came to Kenya, I fought the
mother ...this time I will destroy the kid," a confident
Sibanda said at a Pre-Fight Press conference today.
The diminutive Zarika on the other hand said that she is not afraid
of Sibanda's threats and everything will be settled within the four
corners of the boxing ring on Sunday.
Monalisa Sibanda normally fights at Welterweight but has been in
camp for the last two months to prepare for the featherweight bout.
A number of Kenyans had thought the match-up was a mismatch in
favour of Sibanda who fought Conjestina at Middleweight, but were
shocked to see a well
trimmed Sibanda at the press conference. "I am on weight and you
will see tomorrow, " Sibanda said. The weigh-in will be held
tomorrow.
