"It's her or
me" (the Hamburger Abendblatt informed us on Monday) is
Susianna Kentikian's motto. Last night it was neither. In the
sweltering heat that has brought most of Europe to a standstill,
the 18-year-old (dubbed 'The Pitbull' by her sparring partners)
drove Daniela Graf from Karlsruhe all round the ring for twenty
minutes without ever quite getting a grip. "It was very hot,"
explained Kentikian. "As early as the first round, I was
fighting for breath."
They were
fighting for a belt, too: the curiously styled "International
German Flyweight Title" as well as a prize of 3,000 euros, which
they should have split – after all, it was hot, too, for the
Armenian's 23-year-old opponent, who proved despite her
unimpressive [3-4-1] record every bit as tough as trainer Detlef
Loritz had promised.
On the same
bill, the Lukasik-Bojare fight also went to the cards.
