(JULY 25) July is usually the coldest
month of the Year in Kenya's Capital City of Nairobi, but things are
set to heat up with two boxing events headlined by some of Africa's
top
women boxers. Kenya is probably Africa's foremost in women's boxing
and there more events where the main bouts are women.
On 30th July at the Nyayo
Stadium kenya's Fatuma Zarika will headline
the Jabjab Promotions fight
card against Zimbabwe's Monalisa Sibanda. A
week later on 5th August at the same venue WBF middleweight
champion Conejstina Achieng of Kenya will face off
against Florence Nalukwago of neighbouring Uganda.
Conjestina in April this year lost to American Yvonne
Reis in a bid to fill the then vacant WBC womens title.
Conjestina's fight is promoted by
Timebomb Promotions.
Sibanda is an exciting fast moving and
slippery boxer who in February this year stretched the hard hitting
Conjestina the full distance at the same venue. Sibanda who is a
favorite of kenyan boxing fans makes her second trip to Kenya to
fight another Kenyan Fatuma Zarika. Zarika is a seasoned boxer with
14 fights and 3 loses.
The undercards for the Jabjab Promotions event dubbed "THE NEXT
GENERATION" will feature Light Heavy Samson 'Hammer' Onyango (9-0)
and 'Jesse' James Kimori of the
Denmark based Risum Boxing Stable and Nick Otieno, and Geofrey
Munika. Tom Atina makes his pro debut on that day.
The July 30th Event will be Jabjab Promotions first promotions.
"We intend to have a fight every month within Nairobi or Mombasa
Cities in a bid to encourage the many amateur boxers to turn
Professional We will also have at least one female bout in each
event," says Ema Christine the spokesperson of Jabjab Promotions.
