(JUNE 25) Last night at the Sky Ute
Casino, in Ignacio, Colorado, Layla McCarter, of Las Vegas,
won a fifth round stoppage (TKO) when Shadina Pennybaker
failed to come out for the sixth round, retiring at the end of the
fifth round. According to news sources, McCarter was too fast
and skillful for Pennybaker.
In a second women's bout, national
amateur champion Stella Nijhof made her pro debut ,
winning a four-round unanimous decision over Elizabeth
Monge. Final judges scores were 40-36 on all cards.
