(MAY 19) Tomorrow night at Palenque
del Hipódromo, Tijuana, Mexico, Jackie Nava, 13-1-1 (8
KOs), of Tijuana, Mexico, will be fighting Alejandra
Oliveras, 6-0-1 (2 KOs), of Laboulaye, Córdoba, Argentina.
At the press conference this week, it was reported in
local news sources that Oliveras said, "Where would
world boxing be without the Mexicans?" where she was
described Nava as "the best boxer in the world."
Nava was also polite,
and promised that the fight would be a good fight.
She did add though, "We can be the best of friends
down here, but up there (meaning 'in the ring') it's
a dffferent story; there it's boxing and friendships
are forgotten."
