Providence Press Conference Quotes
Jaime Clampitt: “I’ve been working hard and I’m ready to go. To be
honest, I’m sick of talking and I want to fight; tomorrow night
that’s what I’m going to do.”
Missy Fiorentino: “It’s going to be a great fight. It’s great to be
in the first female main event (in Rhode Island). I’ve put on weight
and feel good, and strong.”
Jason Estrada: “Robert Wiggins is a very tough fighter. I was going
to dog Robert here today and give him some pub after the fight. But
I can’t do that. It’s the wrong fight for Robert to take because I’m
on top of my game. I’m still pissed about my last fight (first round
NC vs. Yanqui Diaz) and I have to take it out on somebody. It just
happens to be a good friend (Wiggins). It’s going to be a good
fight. I’m winning this fight. That’s all there is to it.”
Robert Wiggins: “Estrada’s taking this fight because he thinks he’s
going to get a big win. Tomorrow’s going to be a tough fight, a real
fight.”
Demetrious Andrade: “I’m excited to be fighting in front of my
hometown crowd. I want to thank Jimmy Burchfield for this
opportunity.”
“Let It Ride” Pro-Am Boxing Show
Clampitt-Fiorentino world title fight, Estrada-Wiggins, plus amateur
champion “Boo Boo” Andrade Thursday night, May 18 at R.I. Convention
Center in Providence
PROVIDENCE (May 17, 2006) – “Let It Ride,” the first Pro-Am boxing
show in Rhode Island history, is headlined by a 10-round IWBF
lightweight title fight between defending champion Jaime “The
Hurricane” Clampitt (16-3-1, 7 KOs) and intrastate rival Missy “The
Fury” Fiorentino (13-1, 6 KOs), the reigning IWBF featherweight
title-holder, Thursday night (May 18) at the Rhode Island Convention
Center in downtown Providence.
Providence heavyweights Jason “Big Six” Estrada (5-0, 1 KO), the
2004 U.S. Olympian, and veteran Robert Wiggins (20-6-1, 12 KOs)
battle in the 10-round co-feature on “Let It Ride,” promoted by
Classic Entertainment & Sports (CES) and sponsored by Lincoln Park.
“Let It Ride” will be taped live and broadcast on CN8, The Comcast
Network. The event will air network wide on SATURDAY, May 20 at 7:00
PM/ET. The CES/CN8 announcing team includes blow-by-blow commentator
Ed Berliner, former five-time world champion Vinny “The Pazmanian

reporter.
WBC rated No. 18 super welterweight Ossie Duran (20-5-1, 9 KOs), of
Ghana, makes his U.S. and CES debut against Marcos “The Terminator”
Primera (19-13-2, 12 KOs) in a six-round Special Attraction.
“This is the first female main event in Rhode Island history,”
promoter Jimmy Burchfield said. “It’s a fight everyone wants to see.
We should acknowledge both camps for accepting this fight. I would
buy a ticket to this fight…really!
“We also have an Olympian (Estrada) with over 300 amateur fights.
Where do you see a fighter with only five pro fights fighting
somebody of this magnitude (Wiggins) with 27 fights? And he always
comes to fight. Estrada wants to be heavyweight champion. Wait until
you see Ossie Duran. In the very near future he will be fight for
the 147-pound world title. And our amateur part of the show has
somebody (Demetrious Andrade) who will be fighting in the 2008
Olympics.”
Also on the undercard is Providence middleweight Richard “Bobo”
Starnino (6-1-1, 1 KO), returning to the ring for the first time in
nearly 2 ½ years, against Keith Sonley; Pawtucket lightweight Eddie
Soto (4-0, 3 KOs) squares off against Montez Wilson.
Newly crowned National Golden Gloves 152-pound champion Demetrius
“Boo Boo” Andrade (401 Gym), arguably the No. 1 amateur boxer in the
country, boxes before his hometown fans against One Shot Thomas,
fighting out of Brooklyn via Ghana. Andrade, who also is the 2-time
U.S. Championships winner, and is a bonafide 2008 Olympic hopeful
for the United States.
In another outstanding amateur match, Mark Deluca (Duxbury, MA)
faces rival Nathan Busa (Newton, MA, Knockout Boxing) at 165 pounds.

for Rhode Island bragging rights at 141 pounds and Providence’s

Olympic winner, faces Alex Frechette (South Boston Boxing Club) at
105 pounds.

passed away two years ago.
