(MAY 2) In an article titled "Jackie
promises to derail 'The Locomotive'", JC Gubi reports today on the
Box Latino site that the impressively built Alejandra Marina 'Locomotora'
Oliveras of Argentina – and not, as originally reported, Carolina
Gutiérrez of Argentina – will be the challenger for Jackie Nava's
WBC super bantamweight title in Los Cabos, Baja California, on the
20th May. Other than that she is strong and apparently unbeaten – a
record of 7-0-1 (3 KOs) is being claimed for her by the promoters –,
Nava knows nothing whatever about Oliveras and has been unable, so
far, to obtain an inch of video to help with her preparation. "I'll
just have to decipher her style in the ring," said Nava yesterday.
"I reckon that by the end of the third round, I'll have found out
where she's vulnerable and how I can beat her."
In her last outing, on the 7th April at the club Pabellón Argentino
in Alejandro Roca (Córdoba), Oliveras stopped Miryam Da Silva of
Brazil in the first round.
