As the co-promoter of Jelena Mrdjenovich,
I must respond to your ridiculous comments regarding the
Mrdjenovich-Biggers fight in Edmonton, Canada. First of all, Jelena
was doing a voluntary defense of her WBC title. For your
information, this allows us to choose someone in the top 15 of the
WBC rankings. We chose Donna Biggers, the 9th ranked in the WBC.
Donna had a very impressive record of 18-2, 15 by knockout. Donna
just ran into the best left hook in female boxing, and it was “good
night” Donna. Your site had a survey where people voted who would
win the Biggers-Mrdjenovich fight. The vast majority of your people
chose Donna to win by knockout or by decision. You showed Donna no
respect. Shame on you for implying that she shouldn’t be in the ring
with the likes of Jelena Mrdjenovich. I remind you again that she
has a tremendous record, and is in the top ten of the WBC.
Secondly, do you people realize that the world does exist outside of
the American borders? Canada is a country that has a larger land
mass than the United States of America. To imply Jelena’s hometown
is Canada would be the same if we stated that Layla McCarter’s
hometown is New York or Los Angeles, just because those two cities
are in the United States. Boxing is about business. Jelena makes
good money when she fights in Edmonton. American girls, and for that
matter, all girls, that fight on her cards also make good money. Why
would Team Mrdjenovich go to the US to fight for coffee money? Let
WBAN put up $20 000US for Jelena, and we WILL be there to fight the
likes of Laracuente or Tracy Byrd. NO PROBLEM!! Having said this, we
are prepared to bring the likes of your top six into Canada (and
remember, it’s 5000 miles long) to fight Jelena, where Jelena can
make the money she is making and these other girls at least get a
fight. Who is to say your top six are the right top six anyway?
Okay, enough is enough. As I said earlier, it’s not all about
American fighters. Sore hand or no sore hand, Layla McCarter got
BEAT in Edmonton. I’m sorry, what do you want us to say about that?
Layla McCarter, in YOUR rankings, is number 4 in the world, and 5
lbs heavier than Jelena. Mia St John is in your top six, but is in a
heavier weight class, and she won’t have anything to do with Jelena.
Ask her! Mia has turned us down a minimum of two times. Your bias
towards American fighters is beginning to bore me. Jelena has
tremendous respect for all female fighters that get into the ring.
Sometimes I wonder, if Jelena was an American, you would be all over
her. We look forward in the future to more Americans coming up here,
because we won’t let your biased articles affect our logical
approach to the boxing business. Bring on the Americans, and once
again, WBAN, forget the pocket change, offer us $20 000US and we
will fight Laracuente or whoever, anywhere you want us to. We have
always shown respect to ALL professional fighters, whether they are
male, female, Chinese, Hungarian OR American. Start showing us the
respect we deserve when we knockout Tracy Byrd, or Belinda, what
will you say then?
Good night and good luck,
Team Mrdjenovich
