An open letter to Milan
Lubovac and Team Mrdjenovich
from Team Hallback:
First of all, let me say CONGRATULATIONS to Jelena and her team on a
great fight and winning the world titles. That being said:
Following the "A Ring of Their Own: World Title Wave" fight card on
November 18th when Jelena Mrdjenovich won the WIBF and WBC world titles,
Mr. Lubovac, who is Jelena’s trainer-manager, made a statement to
Edmonton Sun sports writer Scott Zerr, and I quote: “The other three
title fights - do people want to see those girls? They couldn’t punch”.
If Mr. Lubovac feel’s that way, why did he refuse to fight WIBA/IBA Jr.
Lightweight world champion Chevelle Hallback for her titles on this
show?
Jelena fought for and won the WBC world Jr. lightweight title even
though Ms. Hallback is ranked #1 by the WBC.
Ms. Hallback’s manager, Butch Gottlieb was assured by the WBC rep at the
fight that Ms. Mrdjenovich’s first defense of that title will be a
mandatory against Ms. Hallback and we are asking if you plan on living
up to that agreement or will you once again refuse the fight and vacate
the WBC title? We don’t feel that you will fight Chevelle even though
your own promoter has also assured me that you would fight her next.
Butch Gottlieb-manager
