Undefeated Strawweight prospect Carina Moreno (7-0 Watsonville) has been
added to THE RIOT boxing card in Monterey, following a series of
disappointments and AWOL opponents. Ms. Moreno will be challenged by 105
pound fireball Sandra Ortiz in the 6 round women's featured bout..one of
6 on the card.
Ortiz (4-2-1 Topeka, Kansas) is a strong
aggressive fighter who is one of the few remaining candidates anywhere
who are capable of fighting the highly touted Moreno. A multi-postponed
and eventually aborted bout in Thailand cast doubt on Carina's
appearance on the popular Monterey pro boxing series.
The dates changed from September to late
October and eventually to November 7. The delays resulted in all the
original potential opponents either taking other fights or making other
plans. "We are fortunate to find a quality opponent for Carina at this
late date" states promoter, matchmaker Jerry Hoffman of Aptos, Ca. THE
RIOT event features undefeated heavyweight George Garcia, (10-0
Glendale, AZ) unbeaten Welterweight prospect Enrique Gutierrez, (6-0
Santa Rosa) 5-0 Joel Santiago (5-0 Las Vegas) and 5-1 Jesus Rodriguez
(5-1 Salinas) all against tough opposition. There is also another
women's bout on the card. Sasadea Razo (3-6 Santa Rosa) meets Crystal
