Ward-Kerin: Setting the Record Straight
by Team Ward (Edwin King, Manager)
May 13, 2005
(MAY 13) This week WBAN has been in contact with Vonda Ward's team,
Edwin King, Manager. King said that they would like to set the record
straight in some things that Elizabeth Kerin stated in her
interview with WBAN.
King told WBAN the following:
As manager of heavyweight champion
Vonda Ward, first let me start off by saying that all of us at team
ward have always handled our affairs with the highest level of
honesty and integrity. Over the years we have worked with many of
the top promoters in the business with great success. In
reference to the Kerin Interview posted on the WBAN website, there
are many discrepancies with the Team Kerin story. |
|
In the
First Round
when Vonda was knocked down, not knocked out. She immediately popped
back up, staggered to the ropes where she received her count.
After the referee checked her, the fight
continued. As far as the Kerin complaint concerning the weight
difference, Kerin weighed in at 178 lbs. Vonda weighed in at 182 lbs.
We believe a 4-lb difference was not a factor in the fight.
The main issue we have with the
Kerin interview is her perception of her knock out. When Vonda
had Kerin in her corner, Vonda landed huge combinations.
Kerin's eyes rolled back into her head and she was out before she
hit the floor.

I have enclosed the video of the fight along
with a picture of Kerin out cold. These images clearly show what
really happened that night and backs up what I'm saying.
Vonda Ward has fought every worthy opponent
in her weight class, sometimes more than once. She has traveled the
country defending her right to be called the heavyweight champion of the
world.
Also, if anyone has forgotten, Vonda dropped two weight classes to fight one
of the most feared female fighters today, Ann Wolfe.
We believe that the misleading interview by Kerin is nothing more than a
weak ploy to try to get her 90-day suspension lifted so she can fight in
May. In response to that interview, our only goal is to tell the
truth. Our advice to the Kerin camp is to review the video and move
on--you lost.
