(MAY 5) Big news from the Underground Boxing Company who manage World
Flyweight Champion, Melinda Cooper and another positive blow for the
advancement of women's boxing in the eyes of the mainstream media.
Undefeated boxing sensation, Melinda Cooper, who fights out of Las Vegas,
has just signed a substantial two- fight sponsorship agreement with urban
apparel powerhouse, MeccaUsa, where she will represent their Mecca Femme
clothing line.
This comes just a week before her next scheduled bout, on May 13th it the
Plaza Hotel and Casino in the historic downtown Las Vegas district.
Melinda's opponent has yet to be announced for that bout, but Melinda and
her team guarantee another outstanding showing. "I want to come on strong
and show everyone how good women's boxing is. There's a place for women in
this business and we are making some progress. This deal with Mecca USA is
not just good for me, it will help the public see female boxers in a
different light and hopefully make other businesses aware that there is a
growing interest in this sport... especially right now."
Mecca Wear was established in 1994 and has quickly redefined streetwear
fashions and has become an industry leader. Mecca Wear is currently one of
the hottest, most well-respected clothing manufacturers among R&B, rap
artists and professional skateboarders. Melinda will be the first female
boxer to represent their line, but is a welcome change to their popular
lineup of professional athletes and familiar faces. |
