WBAN's Sixth Year on the Net
By Sue TL Fox
August 4, 2004
(AUG 4) It has now been six years (1998) since WBAN has gone live on the
Internet. WBAN first began covering the past women boxers, and the
history of the sport----which included
my own boxing career
in the late 1970’s.
Through these six years on the net, we have pretty much heard it
all----ranging from women boxers in the sport who are and have been
ambassadors of the sport, to boxers who seem to think that they are the sole
ones who carries the sport, and they make it clear to the public that they
are not in the sport for anyone, other than themselves.
WBAN would like to say that it is not “one” boxer, who makes or breaks this
sport, and it takes a team effort by women boxers, trainers, managers,
matchmakers, promoters, and the boxing community to keep this sport growing
in a positive and upward direction.
For this sixth year on the net, WBAN would like to dedicate this year to ALL
the women boxers who have brought this sport to where it is today. To read
about these women, WBAN linked a special editorial that was written
for ESPN on the historical events in the sport and about these very special
women.
