Skye Nicolson Wins easily to successfully defend her WBC Title

(JULY 14) Last night at the Wells Fargo Center, in Philadelphia, Australia's Skye Nicolson, 125 1/2,  successfully defended her WBC Featherweight title when she easily defeated Dyana Vargas, 125 1/2, from the Dominican Republic. Final judges’ scores were 100-90 on all cards.  Nicolson remains undefeated with a 11-0-0 (1KO) record, and Vargas is now 19-2-0 (12KO).  Full Story

Daniels to defend her IBF World title against world-ranked boxer in possible last fight in New Zealand

(JULY 11) History will be made as, for the first time ever, a world boxing title will be defended in Hamilton. Lani Daniels will defend her IBF World Light Heavyweight title against the undefeated Nigerian boxer Bolatito Oluwole, which could be Daniels's last fight in New Zealand.  On September 7th at the GLOBOX Arena (formerly known as Claudelands Arena) John Parker will fight for the WBA Oceania Cruiserweight title against Fijian boxer ....Full Story

Update on Alejandra "la Fenix" Ayala after being seriously Injured after her fight with Rankin?  Where is the help from this Sport?

(JULY 8) This week WBAN received an update on female boxer Alejandra “la Fenix” Ayala by Sinéad Babington who said that she finally had gotten up to Tijuana to see Alejandra and see her gym that she had opened before going to Scotland to fight over two years ago.  Babington said the following: In what was a fight of a lifetime for this talented boxer, that took place on  May 13th at the SSE Hydro, in Glasgow, Scotland, super welterweight Hannah Rankin, 153 1/2, won by a ten-round TKO over  Ayala. The two were fighting for the WBA Super Welterweight and the IBO Super Welterweight titles.  According to news sources, she was taken to a hospital immediately after the fight and had an undisclosed surgery.  Some media sources said it was a Hematoma, and we have not verified that information.  Full Story

(JULY 4) This will be a nice announcement for fairly unknown female boxer Joana Chavarria Lopez who is WBAN's top pick for July Fighter of the Month.  She reigns out of Valle, Mexico City, Mexico, who recently fought Zulina Munoz, with came into the fight with a  boxing record of 54-5-2, to Chavarria's 5-4-4 record going into the fight. Carranza Wins by Unanimous Decision Over LaVigne

(JULY 2) On Saturday, June 29th, at the Miccosukee Casino & Resort in Miami, Florida  Elia “Soul Snatcher” Carranza of Miami, Florida won a unanimous decision over Kaitlin LaVigne of Overland Park, Kansas in a six-round bout. Although it was classified as a super welterweight fight, the boxers’ weights were not within that weight class. Carranza weighed in at 157.2 pounds, which is middleweight whereas LaVigne weighed in 162.4 pounds which is super middleweight.  Full Story

Last Night Yamileth Mercado Successfully defended her WBC title over Ramla Ali

(JUNE 30) Last night at the Footprint Center, in Phoenix, Arizona, Yamileth Mercado, of Mexico, 121 lbs.,  won a ten-round unanimous decision over Ramla Ali, 122 lbs., of Greenwich, London, UK.  The two were fighting for the WBC World Super Bantamweight title....Full Story

Nisa Rodriguez,  New York City police officer and celebrated amateur boxer, Nisa Rodriguez has been added to our “Women Cops Who Box” at our Pre-celebration on April 4, 2025! The following night at the “Night of the Stars 2”, at the finale, we will then be inducting our 2025 International Women's Boxing Hall of Fame Inductees on April 5, 2025. Florida Boxing Hall of Fame Honors Stacy Prestage at Induction Weekend

(JUNE 26) The Florida Boxing Hall of Fame (FBHOF) had their Induction Weekend from June 21-23 at the Hilton Hotel in St. Petersburg, Florida in Carillon Park. The FBHOF is one of the most prestigious Halls of Fame for boxing in the United States. Stacy Prestage was the only female boxer on the list of inductees.  (JUNE 25) There is a little bit of history that has not been discussed much that occurred in the 1970's to early 1980's, and it is not about a female boxer or boxers----it is about a past photographer that captured women's boxing in the 1970s-1980s when few cared about covering the sport.  His name is Alastair Segerdal (he passed away in the early 2000's) . Geovana Peres makes history in second New Zealand National Muay Thai title win

(JUNE 22) Geovana Peres made history in Tauranga on Saturday night, winning her second Muay Thai professional title against Hometown favourite Faith Mcmah and becoming the first-ever WBC Muay Thai Heavyweight female champion. The two had fought before back in November 2022, where Peres won the fight by split decision, winning the WMC New Zealand national Heavyweight title. McMah's camp called the controversy over the result and wanted to see the fight happen again.  Full Story

(JUNE 21)  Tonight at the PalaElachem, Vigevano, in Italy, Veronica Tori, of Vigevano, with a 6-2-0 (3KO) record,  will be fighting Natalia Francesca, 6-3-0, of Cataluña, Spain will be fighting a ten-round bout, for the vacant, EBU European Bantamweight title. Tosi's last fight took place in December of 2023, winning by decision and Francesca in March of 2024, winning an eight-round decision.

(JUNE 19) On Tuesday, June 4th, the City of Raton honored two-time Women’s World Boxing Champion Terri “Lil Loca” Cruz. Citizens, family, and friends from Cruz’s hometown attended the event. Cruz retired in 2011 with a professional boxing record of 17-7-2. The huge women's boxing title fights that await in the second half of 2024

Women's boxing has seen several title fights play out in the opening half of the year but the biggest and most exciting bouts have been saved for the latter stages of the year. Denmark's Dina Thorslund Named WBAN's June 2024 Fighter of the Month

(MAY 30) Today WBAN has added Kyana "Special Kay"  Williams, a Providence police officer Kyana by day and female boxer while not on duty to our Boxer's Profile segment.  On May 28th, we received an update of Kyana that she is now a 2024 New England Golden Gloves Champion, captured a bronze medal in the welterweight (146-pound) division at the recent National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions hosted by the City of Detroit.  Full Story

Lt. Dan Hennessey calls it quits after controversy

(MAY 14) The voice behind New Zealand and Australia combat sports, MC Lt Dan Hennessey, has called it quits on his 18-year international MC career after announcing the wrong name on the World title fight.  Lt Dan Hennessey has announced on social media that he will be retiring from his MC role after the controversy of announcing the wrong winner of a World title fight on 12th of May in Perth Australia. (MAY 13) Hamilton Maori boxer Tinta Smith has finally won the historical belt, becoming the first-ever women's New Zealand Cruiserweight champion.  On March 16, Tinta Smith fought Trish Vaka for the first-ever New Zealand national (PBCNZ version) Cruiserweight title, which ended in a draw. (MAY 1) On Saturday, April 27th, at the Miccosukee Casino & Resort in Miami, Florida, Olivia Curry, 159.8, and Melody Popravak, 158.4, fought to a draw in a six-round bout in the middleweight division.  The rounds were each two minutes in duration. Curry is a contender in the super middleweight division with a rating of No. 5 by the International Boxing Organization (IBO). Mea Motu returns to ABA Stadium in April

(FEB 23) In a shocking announcement this week, Peach boxers Jerome Pampellone, Andrei Mikhailovich, and Northlands Mea Motu have ended the business relationship with Dean Lonergan and signed with No Limit Boxing. Lani Daniels has yet to announce her next move.  It was announced this week while Isaac Peach was in hospital with kidney stones that Peach Boxing will end their business relationship with Dean Lonergan under D&L Events. FEB 23) Alycia Baumgardner won by unanimous decision in her rematch against Christina Linardatou on July 15, 2023 and successfully defended her WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO titles. All the inductees for the Class of 2024 were announced at the SJC Boxing Gym in Fort Myers, Florida. FBHOF President Steven J. Canton is the owner of the SJC Gym which also has the FBHOF Museum. (JAN 1, 2024) On December 2nd through 9th, 2023 the 2023 Olympic Trials took place at the Cajun Dome & Convention Center, Lafayette, Louisiana.  On December 8th, 2023 of Ring 2 was flawed. There was a timing error which would cause the RE-DO of four the contested bouts. In Ring 2 the timer was set at 2-minute rounds instead of 3-minute rounds which is standard bout time for Youth and Elite boxers.  Full Story
