USA Boxing Announces 2025 Women’s Elite High Performance Team Roster

(FEB 19) COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.–Team USA’s Women’s Elite roster has officially been announced for 2025 following the conclusion of the Elite Selection Camp, which was hosted at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, from January 20 to February 19. (FEB 16) Last night at the Estadio F.A.B. in Buenos Aires was featured three female boxing bouts that showcased some newer female boxers on the scene.  The following are the fights that took place.  Aldana Florencia Lopez vs. Leiryn Flores:  Aldana Florencia Lopez from Buenos Aires faced off against Caracas native Leiryn Flores in a ten-round bout. Lopez who emerged victorious, not through a conventional win, but via disqualification. The two were fighting for the WBA Fedelatin Fly title.  Full Story

World Title fight gets a new date in Taupo

(FEB 16) Lani Daniels vs Nailini Helu for the IBF World Light Heavyweight title will now be contested on the 10th of May at Taupō Events Centre (TEC). Originally the fight was scheduled for April, however, the promoter of Ironfist Promotions Nigel Elliott was informed that the venue was under construction and would not be ready for the 5th of April date. Elliott has also reassured us that the recent floods in the Central North Island region that happened on February 7th would not postpone the event further.  Full Story

Yuko Kuroki Wins Vacant WBA Minimumweight Title on Women’s Boxing Event

(JAN 27) On Tuesday, January 21st, at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan, Yuko Kuroki won the vacant WBA minimumweight title against Ye Kyeng Seo. Seo is the boxer previously known as Ryu Kyung Suh. There are variations in the spelling of words when translating from the Korean alphabet to the English alphabet, so the same name can be spelled differently. (JAN 6) The first reported women's boxing bout that took place thus far was two days ago on January 4th, at the Hotel Nongshim, Busan, where Kyung Joo Bae, 125 1/2, of Changwon, South Korea, won her bout when she defeated Hyun Hee Lim, 125 1/4, of Busan, South Korea. Kyung won by a fourth round unanimous decision over Hyun Hee Lim. The final judges scores were 37-39, 36-40, and 37-40. Kyung is now 1-2-2 (0KO), and Lim is 0-1-0.  Full Story

(JAN 5) Laura “Lady Ram” Ramsey of Lakeland, Florida was named an inductee into the Class of 2025 for the Florida Boxing Hall of Fame (FBHOF). All the inductees for the Class of 2025 were announced at the SJC Boxing Gym in Fort Myers, Florida. FBHOF President Steven J. Canton is the owner of the SJC Gym which also has the FBHOF Museum. Nisa Rodriguez Wins by TKO over Melody Popravak

(DEC 18)  Last night at Sony Hall, in New York, Nisa Rodriguez, 165, won by a second round TKO over Melody Popravak, 162 3/4, out of Snellville, Georgia. According to a press release, Rodriguez rocked Popravak with just 30 seconds to go in round two. The bout was scheduled for six rounds. (DEC 18) The year was 1983, the venue was at the Civic Auditorium, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.    Women's Boxing was a struggle in the late 1970s and 1980s, with the difficulty of finding opponents to fight and at that time women's boxing was looked at more in the light of being a special feature on a card, and the media was not very kind many times when they wrote about females who wanted to fight in the sport. (DEC 15)  The World Boxing Association (WBA) recently celebrated an iconic figure in the sport of boxing by honoring Christy Martin, a true pioneer of women’s boxing. During a special event held on Friday night, Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, the WBA president, awarded Martin the title of lifetime champion, recognizing her significant contributions to the sport and her role in paving the way for future generations of female boxers.  Full Story

Two Female Bouts in Uruguay!

(DEC 3) On Saturday night at the Gimnasio Ali, in Montevideo, Uruguay, Lucia Evelyn Marrero, 125 1/4, of Montevideo, won a first round TKO over Camila Nogueria, 127 1/2.  The bout was scheduled for four rounds.  In a second female bout, Diana Roseicela Delbono Mora, 108 1/2, making her pro debut, won by a four-round unanimous decision over Elizabeth Dahiana Sellanes, 109 1/4.
